why biomass?

Why is biomass a safe and modern fuel?

Energy biomass is a renewable, low-emission fuel that can replace coal, gas, and heating oil without costly technological disruption. For district heating and industry, it is now one of the key tools for achieving climate goals.mass combustion fits into the natural carbon cycle — the CO₂ emitted during combustion corresponds to the amount absorbed by plants during growth. Unlike fossil fuels, it does not introduce “new” carbon into the atmosphere, but uses a renewable raw material.

By-products instead of raw materials

Wood pellets, agro pellets, and PKS are produced from by-products of the wood and agricultural industries: sawdust, chips, husks, and pomace. These are materials that would otherwise remain waste — in a circular economy model, they become a valuable fuel.

High efficiency and ease of use

Biomass in pellet form has low moisture, high calorific value, and consistent granulation, which makes it well suited to modern automatic boilers. Low ash and impurity content mean less wear on the installation and fewer shutdowns for cleaning.

Real emission reduction

When RED III requirements are met and certified biomass is used, lifecycle emissions can be significantly lower than those of coal. That is why biomass is one of the pillars of the energy transition in district heating and industry.

Biomass supply security

Stable volumes, strong producers, and strategic storage capacity — we build a biomass supply chain designed for the needs of utility-scale power generation and industry.

Global biomass producers

Integrated producers in Southeast Asia

We work with partners such as SCG and SPK Parawood — large integrated industrial groups that control the entire chain: from plantations and processing to pellet production and export.

This gives us access to stable volumes of industrial biomass compliant with RED III and SBP.

Raw material source control

Verified origin and full traceability

Biomass is produced from raw material sourced from certified plantations or from wood industry by-products. Each batch has documented origin, data for GHG calculations, and compliance with RED III / EUDR requirements.

This allows customers to use our fuels for ESG reporting and renewable energy support systems.

Storage buffer and port proximity

Secure storage — up to 80,000 tonnes

Thanks to cooperation with OT Logistics and port terminals (including OT Port Świnoujście), we have infrastructure that allows us to store up to 80,000 tonnes of biomass in warehouses and storage yards, protected against raw material degradation.

Part of this space can serve as a strategic buffer for selected customers.

Continuity of supply and contract flexibility

Deliveries designed around your installation

We combine long-term contracts with a flexible approach to volumes and schedules.

We can act as a primary supplier or a supplementary biomass source, ensuring boiler continuity even during periods of increased demand.

Efficient Laude system

Intermodal rail in the Laude system

We use Laude HCPW containers, enabling fast loading and unloading of biomass in ports, at rail terminals, and directly at industrial installations.

A single train set can carry approx. 2,300 tonnes of pellets, maximizing payload and reducing transport costs.

We treat biomass supply security as an ongoing process, not a one-off project. Strong producers, certified plantations, large storage buffers in Poland, and intermodal transport in the Laude system allow us to maintain the volumes required by district heating and large industrial plants — with guaranteed quality and full regulatory compliance.

Certification and responsible sourcing

GHG calculator for biomass (RED) — gCO₂e/MJ and savings vs fossil fuel

Select a product and enter the supply chain data (production energy, transport, terminals). The calculator will estimate emission intensity in gCO₂e/MJ, convert it into kgCO₂e/MWh, and show the percentage of GHG savings compared to the fossil fuel reference value.

The result is indicative only — audit-ready values require confirmation of source data in accordance with the certification system methodology.

Calculates emission intensity in gCO₂e/MJ, converts it to kgCO₂e/MWh, and shows savings vs fossil fuel. The “life-cycle” methodology is aligned with the RED approach (sum of stages). :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}

Default LHV and moisture can be set in the configuration.
This affects “per tonne” conversions in the table.
Default: 94 gCO₂e/MJ (often used as a reference in regulations). :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}
DMT = t(AR) × (1 − M). Example: M=10% → 1 t AR = 0.90 DMT.
If in your methodology LHV is on a dry basis, let us know — we can add an AR/Dry toggle.
The result in gCO₂e/MJ is independent of volume, but the table will also show the value “per batch”.
Enter your own value (mix/GO). This strongly affects pellet plants.
Indicative value; in an audit, factors from the methodology/system are used.
Enter energy use “per tonne” (AR). If a stage does not apply, leave it at 0.
If drying uses gas/oil — enter the energy. (In the MVP, we calculate this as a “diesel-equivalent” with a separate factor in the configuration).
We calculate transport emissions using average ton-kilometre (tkm) factors. In an audit, factors may be different. :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}
e.g. plant → port/terminal
e.g. terminal → terminal/recipient
If imported — enter NM; if domestic — 0.
Port + inland terminal = 2
Allowance for reachstacker/cranes (average).
Tip: if you want thresholds (e.g. 70/80/xx%), we can add an “installation type” toggle and commissioning dates.

Disclaimer: This calculator is intended for quick estimation. In “audit-ready” calculations, emission factors, allocation rules, and the scope of stages must comply with the methodology of the system (e.g. KZR INiG / ISCC / SURE) and the relevant verification rules. :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}
